I remember deciding in grade three that I was an artist and always would be. This decision was based on my very inaccurate but expressive rendering of a frog. My best friend was so very impressed with my interpretation of frog that she insisted I draw one on her picture as well. Since that fateful day I was hooked, and not very good at math or social or following instructions so… Since that first success I have dedicated much of my life to the pursuit of art and creativity. Born and raised in Calgary I studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design from 1990-94 graduating with a diploma in Sculpture. I then turned my attention to the domestic arts ( being young and very foolish) and in a collaborative effort came up with my finest creation, my son Aubrey. Not content with the cooking and cleaning processes involved so much with the domestic arts I returned to ACAD in 2000 and received my BFA with a major in Ceramics in 2001. Following graduation I began my studio practice and much to my surprise decided to take up painting in oil, and jewellery making. I currently belong to the Burns Visual Arts Society where I share a painting studio with my best friend and I have a home studio for jewellery and mixed media projects that I share with a kid, two cats, two dogs a snake and a mouse. I am still trying to master the domestic arts…with little success!
